6 week update

I feel like 6 weeks is a big check point when you're a newborn, but I guess the 6 week mark is more for the mom than the baby. But we've still seen so many changes in you that I want to remember, so we'll update!

You're actually 6 weeks and 3 days right now and its true what 'they' say, it goes by fast! You're grown out of your newborn size clothes completely now. When we brought you home you were drowning in them. But we've moved on to 0-3mos, 3mos, 8-15lbs, size 1 diapers, etc. All the baby sizing stuff is confusing and inaccurate, but its just one of those things that every parent learns I guess.

You're hair still naturally stands straight up. One time in the past couple weeks I tried to make it lay flat as it was drying, but it took a lot of time and when it was completely dry it still started to stand up. (you'll see it in a couple pictures) I love it and so does everyone else. A lady at Gardener Village last week asked me if she could touch it, and several people have said that babies with hair that stands up will have really thick hair. I believe it because I was born with hair just like it and your dad and I both have really thick hair.

You're sleeping like a champ. I don't plan on it lasting. But I wouldn't complain if it did. Most nights you sleep about 7 hours. Down around mid-night and up between 6:00 and 8:00. It happens a time or two a week that you'll wake up between 2:00 and 4:00 for a quick feeding but then you go right back down. Something I've noticed is that you never cry during the night. I wake up just because I hear you squirming and kicking. You take deep breaths and grunt a little, but you don't cry. Even on nights you sleep straight through, you still just wake me with little baby coos and grunts and wiggles, not cries. Last night we swaddled you, fed you, and then put you down before you fell asleep. You just laid there content, looking around and you fell asleep about 20 minutes later on your own. It's happened during the day as well. You'll be awake in your swing, or playing under your jungle gym and you fall asleep. You love your jungle gym. (I don't know what its really called, but that's what I call it.) You're so entertained by the colors, sounds and the mirror as you lay and look up at all the fun! We have hours of fun with this thing.
You smile a lot and its so cute! It happens at the cutest moments and it melts my heart! You hate your car seat. You know exactly what it is the second we put you in it and you're not a fan. But once we get moving, whether its carrying you in it, snapping it into the stroller or putting you in the car, you usually calm down pretty quick. You make angry faces and you grunt and push like you're determined to break free.Last night we celebrated Dad's birthday at Fat Cat's. You were perfect! Totally entertained by all the sounds and lights of the arcade and bowling ally, and totally content and asleep when you were ready for a break.Wishing you could have some pizza...Checking out all the lights with Uncle Dave...So excited about the dice that Uncle Dave won for you at the arcade...
Napping in a quite corner with Grandma...I told Dad this morning that even though I have nothing to compare it to, I think you're a really good baby. Very laid back, easy going, but such a cute and fun personality we see developing!Even if you try to hide from the crazy mama with the camera...You're just too easy to love!
