6 months

I started this post when you were actually 6 months old, and now I'm finally getting back to it (two weeks later). I deleted a bunch of it that was all about you being a tummy sleeper and how much it worries me. I don't worry anymore. You get to your tummy or your side no matter what I do to prevent it and you sleep great, so I'm fine with it now.

We've introduced a little bit of the 'cry-it-out' method. Fortunately its never taken you longer than 15 minutes to fall asleep, and even when you're awake in bed you don't cry much. I'm thankful for that because when you do get a little fussy and upset it makes me want to run in and save you. All in all its going well. We always put you to bed and down for your naps when you're still awake and everyday you get more and more used to it and you fall asleep just fine. It's cute watching you on the monitor as you adjust to the perfect sleeping position.

I'm finding more and more that we have days where you don't cry all day. From the moment you wake up until we put you to bed at night. You're just happy and laid back. I love days where there are no baby tears.

You sit up all the time now and play. It's nice that I can put you down on your bum in front of some toys and you'll sit there and entertain yourself for a while. You look so grown up when you're sitting.

When you're on your tummy you try and grip onto the carpet and pull yourself forward. You've started scooting a bit, yesterday you managed to scoot under the coffee table and under your bouncer, you got stuck in both places and you got frustrated in both places. I had to laugh as you got all tangled up. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before you're crawling.

A couple days ago I put you in your crib for a nap with your head at the top of the crib. You weren't making much sound so I checked the monitor and you'd spun around and your feet were at the top of the crib. A minute after that I looked again and you were gone! I kind of freaked out for a minute. I went to your room and you'd scooted or rolled all the way to the foot of the crib and you were laying sideways, completely out of the view of the camera. How you did that so quickly, I'll never know.

If people put there arms out to pick you up you reach for them or lean in towards them.

You're not a great eater. We're up the 3 meals a day, and you eat fine, just not a lot. I'm trying not to stress about it too much because you're gaining weight and you're in about the 20-25th percentile for weight and height. You're almost 26 inches tall and close to 16 lbs. You didn't get much taller between 5 and 6 months, and the PA was a little surprised by that. She measured you 3 times just to make sure, so of course I worried for a minute. But you're healthy and growing so I'm not stressing. Just a slow month I hope.

You're a little flirt. We struggle at church sometimes because its so easy for you to get peoples attention. You smile, laugh and talk the whole time and they cant get enough. I keep trying to shush you and turn you around but you always find a way to get someones attention.

You reach for everything and when you get a hold of something you go straight to your mouth.
Here are a few more pictures from the past couple weeks.
Sometimes you fall asleep in the funniest places. We're not out of the woods yet as far as you needing a reshaping helmet, (I kinda think you'll have one for a while) but at least we have a sense of humor about it!You look so grown up when you're sitting up.You love chewing on your toes.
Our latest food introduction is oranges and you love them. When we lay you on your back you immediately look like you're trying to sit up. Your head, arms, and legs shoot up, and your face looks strained like you're doing crunches. You're just so cute, and we still love you like crazy!
