your mouth

You've been putting stuff in your mouth for a what seems like months now. It keeps getting worse and worse! I'm so ready for you to get past this phase of life. I've enjoyed each new phase so much, but I'm ready for this one to end! I feel like I keep things pretty clean and picked up around here, but you find tiny little things in the craziest places. I'm always looking at you to see if it looks like you're chewing.

It's not just tiny things, its everything. Cell phones, remotes, cords, tables, chairs, peoples arms, legs, shoulders, and noses, couches, toys, your crib, stuffed animals, the security gate, shelves, ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING!

I've described you as a California seagull. When we go to the beach we love to watch the seagulls hover over the water until they see something they want to get their mouths on and then they dramatically nose dive into the water to get it. That's what you do, typically with soft furniture and peoples noses. You've clocked us in our faces several times with your helmet. It's pretty cute to watch when its someone else you're doing it to!

Your three current obsessions are cups, garbage cans, and flip flops. I haven't seen you chew on a garbage can yet, you've just "helped" with recycling a bit and tipped a few cans over. But you love chewing flip flops and you're determined to learn to drink from a cup and suck from a straw.
You got weighed at a Dr. appointment we had at your 10 month mark and I forgot to post it. You're up to 19 lbs. 2 oz. I was surprised that you're that heavy. You feel heavier, but you don't look much heavier. (You were 18 lbs. 8 oz. at 9 months, I found the stats paper from the doc...dad took you while I was at the dentist, the paper looked like it said 8 lbs. 2 oz. to me but I'm not sure.) Anyway, somewhere between 10 oz and a pound gained in a month. And we measured you too, the best we could anyway. You're a little over 28 inches. That's almost 2 inches in just over a month! I could tell you had a growth spurt. I moved your name frames up higher on the wall behind your crib about 3 inches so you couldn't reach them. I think I did it a month or so ago and they were well out of your reach. Yesterday I heard you playing with them again. Its not just the getting taller, but now you stand on your tippy toes and jump in your crib. Sigh... some days it seems nothing is out of your reach.

We took a little weekend trip with the Whites last week. We went to Lake Arrowhead, and you seemed to enjoy it. You slept ok, but you've definitely outgrown your travel crib. We're buying a bigger one for you when lil sis comes along.

You loved looking at the water, going for a walk in the rain, and watching the ducks. And you came home with a couple new outfits and several new toys.
