Your weight is 20 lbs. Your height is 29 inches. I never remember the head circumference or any of the percentiles, but everything looks "great" and "normal."
You had a couple shots today and it was by far the toughest ones so far. (Maybe just on me.) You're at the age now where you're more aware of strangers and pain. It made for a bad combo and it was hard for this mama to watch. You cried til it was done and I picked you up, then you stopped, and you've seemed ok this evening. But I still hated it and told Dad he can be on immunization duty from now on, or at least come with me.
A few things I didn't mention a couple weeks ago when I talked about your 12th month of life:
-You give high five.
-When someone points at something, you generally look at what they are pointing at, instead of looking at the tip of their finger. But, you also stick one finger out yourself and try and touch the tip of theirs.
-You have a fake laugh. That's the only way I can think to describe it. You'll just start doing it for no reason, in your car seat, in your high chair, playing with toys. It makes me laugh.
-You hand everything to me. And if you pick something up that you shouldn't, and I ask you if I can have it, that's when its the worst, and you start bringing me EVERYTHING.
-You're a little clingy in public. You want me to hold you whenever we're not at home. Well, if we're at a park, on a walk, at someones house, you're ok. But at stores, you're over the shopping cart for now and you want to be held. It makes for challenging grocery shopping. But I just remind myself that it'll be too soon that you won't like that anymore and I'll wish I could hold you, and then I don't mind.
-You drink whole milk now. It was an easy transition and we haven't seen any drastic changes in your diaper, so we think we're good!
It's strange to say you're one. It feels like you're my boy now, and not so much a baby. Kind of makes me sad, but still so fun to watch you change and grow.
We gave you a fish tank for your birthday. So far, you love it! You fall asleep to a little light and the sound of the bubbles, and I can tell when dad has gone into your room in the morning and turned the tank light on while you're sleeping because when you wake up, I hear little laughing through the monitor. And you're always standing in the corner of your crib, closest to the tank watching and laughing. (I'll post about your birthday soon.)
But one fun highlight from your big day. You walked! It was real steps, probably 5 or 6 at a time. You were so focused, yet so excited at the same time. Pretty cute. You won't do it all the time though. You're a pro crawler, and sometimes I think you want to get from point A to point B and you do it the fastest way you know. You really only walk if we sit down on the floor and encourage you to.
