jumping for joy...

...and a quick first-half-of-summer recap.

You've started jumping. Standing on the couch holding on to the back cushions. Standing in the pack and play and also in your crib. A lot of the time its just high energy bouncing, but we've actually seen your feet lift off a few times. I didn't know babies learned to jump before they learned to walk, but what do I know? Your morning always begins with you standing up and reaching for things one the walls that you shouldn't touch, and as soon I I walk in the excitement/squealing/jumping begins. Best way in the whole world for a mom to start her morning, no matter what time it is. Fortunately for us that's still usually around 8am or sometimes a little later.

So far this summer you've been on 2 camping trips, one trial run in Poppy's backyard and one real one at the beach. You did fine in both places. Although you always sleep better in your crib than anywhere else and when I hear you moving and cooing at 2am I find myself wondering why we do this kind of thing sometimes. I think in the long run (and when you're older) they will hopefully be great memories for you, so we decided to start young!

Pictures of the practice run.
Pictures of the real things. We've also been on a family vacation with the Greenhalgh side to Las Vegas. You were the highlight of the trip and several times everyone said, "What did we do as a family before Garrett?" I ask myself that everyday. I can hardly remember life without you!And this past weekend we went to Lake Tahoe with mine and Dad's friends, as well as another baby who we hope will become one of your best friends as these yearly trips continue. You two were so cute together all weekend. We've also taken you swimming a lot and to Disneyland a lot. You're almost always content with whatever is going on. One of the guys (your "Uncle" Aron) mentioned that in the 5 days in Tahoe he only heard you cry twice. Once when us adults were too loud and you woke up at midnight startled in the pitch dark bedroom all alone, and once when you were crawling and everything slipped out from under you and you face planted on the hardwood floor. You obviously cry more than that, but it never lasts, and most things are easy to fix. I'm so glad you're a happy, go with the flow baby.On the 4th of July we cut your hair super short to hopefully help you not be too hot in your helmet. You're a cute little buzz head baby now! You've adjusted just fine in the heat and I can't believe it's been almost a month with the helmet. Here's the only 'jumping' video I have so far.
